General Academic Scholarships. The University awards approximately 1200 scholarships to new and continuing undergraduate and graduate students who are enrolled full-time and maintain a minimum of 3.0 GPA. (4.0 preferred) The award is based upon academic performance. Application - ESSC/Student Financial Aid & Scholarship Office Texas Public Education Grant (TPEG) Awards are made for the Fall and Spring semesters only to financially needy international students who have already studied at UNT for one year. Students apply and are interviewed after the beginning of the semester. Financial records are checked. Application: Kendall Hall 171 International Education Committee (IEC) Scholarship UNT International Education Committee awards approximately 35 $1,000 scholarships to UNT students active in international education activities. Eligible undergraduate students have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and graduate students have a 3.5 GPA. Extensive campus or community activity promoting international understanding is also required. Awardees paying the non-resident tuition rate are permitted to pay in-state tuition for one year. Application: ESSC/Student Financial Aid & Scholarship Office Good Neighbor Scholarship The State of Texas awards approximately 200 full tuition-waiver scholarships state wide to citizens of Western Hemisphere nations. Applicants must be full-time students with a GPA of 2.0 or better. Graduate or undergraduate students who are continuing UNT students or who have transferred here from a U.S. university may apply. Application: ESSC/Student Financial Aid & Scholarship Office Texas Transfer Scholarship The University awards 100 scholarships to students who have completed 45 hours in a Texas Junior College/Community College or Texas University and maintain a 3.5 GPA. Application: No application necessary. All eligible students are identified through their completed Admissions file. Funds are limited--apply early. Auxiliary Services Scholarships The University awards 10 scholarships to students who have worked in one of the following areas for at least one full semester: The University Union, the UNT Student Health Center, Dining Services, Housing Department, or the UNT Bookstore. The student must be currently working in the department an average of 12 hours per week, have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better, and he enrolled as a full-time undergraduate or graduate student. Scholarship recipients must continue to work an average of 12 hours per week to maintain scholarship eligibility. Recipients do not quality for out-of-state tuition waivers. Application: ESSC/Student Financial Aid & Scholarship Office International Educational Fee (IEFS) Scholarship Open to all currently enrolled UNT students who will participate in a UNT-sponsored or UNT affiliated study abroad or exchange program. UNT international students who intend to pursue studies on UNT-sponsored programs in countries OTHER THAN THEIR COUNTRY OF ORIGIN are eligible for IEFS support. IEFS funds are awarded on a first-come first served basis, on the basis of merit and acceptance into an approval program. Awards are made by the IEFS Awards committee three times a year. Awards for Fall programs are made the preceding spring; Spring awards are made in Fall; and, summer awards are made in the preceding spring.
